Course Overview
The Diploma Programme in Yogic Science Code – 823-832 is an intensive certificate course providing in-depth knowledge of yoga practices and pedagogy of Yoga. The programme is open to all those who are interested to become ‘Yoga Teachers’ and is open for both Indian and foreign nationals.
Yoga has great importance in Indian culture. Yoga has been a part of human lifestyle since ancient times. It establishes perfect harmony between the mind and body. It is the science of discipline, which leads to all-round development of the body, mind and self-confidence. Today, mainly in order to stay healthy and fit, Yoga is gaining popularity all over the world. Therefore, there is a special demand for Yoga education in the society. ‘Diploma Programme in Yogic science’ is an important course in the field of Yogic Science. All those learners who are interested in the field of Yoga, who are willing to work in Yoga Teaching-Training and Yoga Therapy can participate in this course. This Programme has been developed keeping this goal in mind. While this Programme highlights in-depth knowledge on Yoga Philosophy, Yogic Culture and Human Values, Human Body, Purification, Yogic Diet, Yogic Practice, Yoga Life, etc., it also imparts skills on Yogic Training and Yogic Management of Lifestyle related disorders, which is much required in the present day world.
Program Highlights
Duration: 2 Year (Level: Diploma Course)
- Eligibility: 10+2 or equivalent from any recognized education board. All those candidates, who have completed the Yoga Teacher Training Programme of NIOS, can also take direct admission in the second year of this course (Theory Paper – 6, 7 & 8; and Practical Paper – 9 & 10). After completing the course, both can be combined to get Diploma.
- Mode: Full-time / Weekend batches
- Certification: NIOS Diploma
- Age criteria: 18+
- TARGET GROUP – All Indian and foreign citizens who fulfill the above eligibility criteria. Course Duration: Two Years PCP/Training: Total Required Contact Hours – 1280 Hours First Year: 10 months × 8 days (in a month) × 5 hours = 400 hours Second Year: 10 months × 8 days (in a month) × 5 hours = 400 hours 06 workshops of 10 days each (mandatory) during the period i.e. each workshop 10 days × 08 hours = 80 hours × 06 = 480 hours

Admission Procedure
- Prescribed application form available with the Prospectus, which can be procured from NIOS or its training centre
- Students may submit their application form round the year at the training centre or take admission online.
- The admission will be valid for five years
Objectives
The aim of the Programme is to train the ‘Yoga Learners’ in sectors of Health and Education.
The objectives of this course is to train learners in the field of health and education. After completing the course, the trainee will be able to:

- Understand yoga principles and yogic practice science
- Get insight into health, hygiene and yogic diet

Course Fee
- The course fee is Rs 15,000 which includes admission, course material, and first time examination fee. The fee for foreign citizens is $700. Candidates who have already completed Yoga Teacher Training Programme (495-499) of NIOS are required to deposit the remaining fee of Rs 5,000 only.
- Vocational study centers may, if desired, charge a limited fee separately for accommodation, food and other miscellaneous facilities as per convenience.
Passing Criteria
A candidate should secure 50% marks in all components separately to be eligible for certification
